A Lutheran View on Church and State
INTRODUCTION TO BIBLE
STUDY OUTLINE
ON
A LUTHERAN VIEW OF CHURCH AND STATE
The following Lesson Plan was used
in teaching “A Lutheran View of Church and State” at Zion Lutheran
Church, Tomball, Texas, beginning in the Summer of 2008 based upon
Render Unto Caesar…and unto God – A Lutheran View of Church and
State, a Report of the Commission on Theology and church
Relations of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, September 1995.
Unless the class leader
is already well versed in the subject matter and in world history, I
earnestly recommend that the class leader make sure that he has read
the Report from CTCR and had access to maps of Europe, the Holy
Roman Empire, and Germany or Central Europe from the 16
th
through the 19th Centuries. The maps are very useful in
Lesson Three, particularly.
During the time these
lessons are presented, I have little doubt that there will be
current debates and discussions ongoing in the national media
concerning issues within the political arena that will serve as
excellent examples or discussion points during the presentation of
these lessons.
Celebrating true unity
in Christ Jesus–
Your brother in Christ.
